Stock Classes
Below is a summary of the different series of products which are applicable to stock class drag racing. Click on the damper series for more detailed information on that type of damper. KONI SPA1 is a different theory than other shock manufacturers. Details of this theory can be found at this link.
The KONI SPA1 was designed as an adjustable drag racing only damper. These units are of stock mounting style and are available primarily for RWD domestic applications. They allow optimum transition at launch with a quick transition back to a level attitude allowing less air to be trapped under the nose of the car and improving ETs. The KONI Special/Sport was designed primarily as a street unit. When available, a Special damper will generally be the better choice for RWD drag racing. While the Sport damper will generally be better for FWD drag racing. For AWD the best setup is determined by how the center differential works on your application. Most KONI shocks are rebuildable or re-valveable to meet your specific requirements. Depending on the series and condition of the damper re-valve cost is $100 and up if you supply the damper.

Most KONI shocks can be converted to external adjustment, shortened, or converted to double adjustable. Contact the KONI shop to see if this is available for your application.

KONI can fabricate anything you may need. We can take your existing strut housings and install our internals; we refer to this as a wet kit. We can make a wet kit single adjustable or double adjustable depending on your budget. We can convert the strut body to utilise a coil-over sleeve or we can modify the housing to meet specific needs. KONI can also fabricate shocks or strut inserts. Let us know your needs and we can give you a cost.
